Class Task # 6 – Picture Editing February 14, 2008

cat

One Eyed cat: For this assignment I copy pasted the eye the cat had, to have an identical eye to replace the missing  one.  After copying and pasting, I flipped and free transformed it till it was in an identical position to the cat’s other half face.

Ripped newspaper

Ripped newpaper: For the part on the newspaper where I had to just copy paste the background was the easy part. But it was tricky getting Patty’s  face identical to the other half. I copy and pasted that part of her face and then rotated it around to set it in the right position. I also used the blur and burn tool to smoothen things out so it doesn’t look fake.

1. How did you enjoy the film? What stood out for you?

I enjoyed the film because it brought out the real feelings of those children who are born into brothels and have a dream which they think is impossible to fulfill. They have miserable lives compared to ours, but they still try to find happiness and fun out of the smalllest reasons, and for them, their lives are hard to live in. I really liked the fact that Zana set out a goal in her life to help these innocent children get a better life. She brings their dreams a new hope, from imossible to possible. Zana didn’t care about herself while helping these kids, she put all her efforts in teaching these kids photography and admitting them into good schools. I really liked how the kids lives are turning out to be compared to what it would have been if they continued into their parents steps. One other thing I liked was that Zana helped these kids discover a talent they didn’t know they had, Photography!

2. Did you learn anything new about photography, life, people? What?

Something I learned new about photography is that good pictures, their meanings and their feelings don’t come the best or expensive equipment, but from within. These children were really talented with the cameras. Their photos showed true feelings they wanted to express.

3) How do you think the world needs to change? How important is this?

I think the world needs to change when it comes to talking and thinking about crime, poverty, and war. Recently there is alot of crime in the world. Innocent people are being killed or hurt without no fault. It is important to help and care for our community and its members for a safer environment. As in, no littering. We have advanced technology than ever before, so its important that we don’t repeat history. Wars should come to an end, because no one has the right to make decisions about other people. I believe as soon as crime and war ends, everybody will have a better life. Also, the society shouldn’t judge one person from his or her family background, but from the talent that person has, such as in the movie Born into Brothels.

4.  What are you willing to do TODAY to be a part of that change?

In todays society, I am willing to try to make a change in keeping the environment clean and safe. For this, I will have to make sure no one around me litters, people understand how littering can effect their health. I can also help those in need of help, such as volunteer work at old age homes.

5. Do you know a good song/rap/poem with good lyrics about change in the world? Post a link or lyrics to share it with us.

Poem : What a World

6. Pick a non-profit organization that is important to you. Why is this important to you? Do they have a website?

Villa Colombo provides residential long-term care and community services to seniors in a culturally sensitive environment. Official website.

7. What ideas do you have for media arts projects that we could do individually or as a class to help contribute to these organizations that are important to us?

Since this organization offers help for seniors, our class could make and donate some art pictures to decorate their rooms or lounge.
